Our Story

The idea goes back to my childhood and growing up in awe of my mother's beauty. She spent her childhood in Kenya. Her style was influenced by East African colours and tradition, but she wore it in her own individual western way. She brought the colourful fabrics of East Africa to London, and the kanga forms the basis of my designs.

The fabric is from East Africa, but our clothes are made in London. Just like many people who live in a city but have heritage that hails from elsewhere.

Tandi garments. Derived from East Africa, born in London.

Wear your emotions

A kanga is a lightweight East African cloth, known for its bold designs and the Swahili saying printed along its base. In East Africa, people wear kanga to deliver a message. We keep that message at the hem of every garment, so you can wear your emotions too.

Limited editions

We do not follow fashion seasons. We treat our garments like numbered prints of art. When a print sells out, it is gone, and a new one takes its place. Every piece is handmade.
